View this post on Instagram Karen Bruinsma. Sometimes I work together with a silversmith, Kees Jooren. He makes the silver to my felted jewelry. I create my jewelry by seaching for macrofotografie. In these pictures I took close up foto’s from plants. In that way you use other colors and forms that you normally do. I like the slow process of forming sculpture by hand. #artisttakingoverfan #fiberart #feltingart #embroideryart #textileart #wool #threads A post shared by Fiber Art Now (@fiberartnow) on Mar 29, 2020 at 7:46am PDT

View this post on Instagram My theme in 2019 was “dementia”. My mother died of it in the end of 2018. During the first periode of her illness , money was a big issue…, so I made a big fat wallet to put all the issues in! When she forgot more and did not recognize me as her daughter, I made the “circels of forgotten memories”, there are pictures in it from her family as a child. The pictures are embroidered in organza and they can switch, because one day she remembers and the other day not at all. The holes symbolize the forgotten memories. When she died a felted a blanket for her to comfort her, and afterwards I took her drawings, reorganized them and embroidered them on the blanket, that was heeling! Sinds then I also felt “ little souls “ to comfort people who are sad or stressfull. They are soft and move easily in your hands to give your hands something to do. #artisttakingoverfan #felt #wool #silk #embroidery #stiching #textiles #textileartist #embroideryart A post shared by Fiber Art Now (@fiberartnow) on Mar 28, 2020 at 5:52am PDT

View this post on Instagram Well I will just continue to tell my story… During a time of not being able to felt, I discovered making silk paper. And I love it!! I completed these bowls with crochet and stitching. The necklace is also made in this way. Here are all kinds of silk scraps and threads hidden in the paper and I worked with wire. As you can see blockprinting and embroidery on paper is also a possibility! #artisttakingoverfan #silk #paper #threads #fiber #crochet #embroidery #textileart A post shared by Fiber Art Now (@fiberartnow) on Mar 28, 2020 at 11:40am PDT

View this post on Instagram Hello everybody, I would like to introduce myself here. I am Karen Bruinsma, living in the Netherlands. I am a felter, a dyer, an embroiderer and a teacher. In my work I like to use themes so my felt can tell a story. I also work together with the felt collective LAK, with a silversmith , and the groups a teach. The buttons you saw yesterday are made with mostly home dyed wool and yarns. I use them in my art and sell them on my website as broches. I hope to show you more of my work later on this day! #ArtistTakingOverFan #felting #embroidery #fiberart #textileart #stitch #stitchart #karenbruinsma A post shared by Fiber Art Now (@fiberartnow) on Mar 28, 2020 at 12:48am PDT
